Website Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10/19/2026
Who we are and what this policy covers
This website, liwanagpsych.com, is operated by Dane Rana, DO, A Professional Medical Corporation, doing business as Liwanag Psychiatry Medical Clinic ("Liwanag Psychiatry," "the practice," "we"). The practice is located at 595 E. Colorado Blvd., Suite 318, Pasadena, CA 91101.
This policy explains what information this website collects from visitors and how it is used. It covers the website only.
Once you become a patient, your health information is protected by federal and California law and is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices, not by this policy. That includes anything you submit through our patient intake forms or patient portal.
Information we collect and how we use it
We collect only what we need to respond to you and to keep the website running.
Information you choose to give us. When you request a consultation, or call, text or email the practice, we receive what you provide. That is usually your name, email address, phone number, and a brief note about what you are looking for. We use it only to respond, to schedule a consultation, and to keep a record of our communication. Consultation requests and scheduling are handled through our practice-management platform, PracticeQ, described below.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly all websites, our host's servers record basic technical details of each visit. These include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the page that referred you, and the date and time. We use these records only to operate the site, diagnose problems, and protect it against misuse.
We do not use website analytics, advertising tools, or social media tracking. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we never use website information for advertising.
We may also use or disclose information when the law requires it, or when necessary to protect the safety of a person or the security of the website.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run the practice's systems, and only for the purposes below.
- Netlify hosts this website. Information involved: technical visit records (IP address, browser, pages, times).
- PracticeQ (IntakeQ) handles consultation requests, scheduling, intake forms, and the patient portal. Information involved: what you enter when you request a consultation or schedule.
- Spruce Health provides the practice phone, text, and voicemail. Information involved: your phone number and messages you leave.
- Google Workspace provides practice email. Information involved: your email address and messages you send.
Providers that may handle health information, such as PracticeQ and Spruce Health, are bound by business associate agreements under HIPAA.
We may also disclose information when required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
Cookies, Do Not Track, and third-party tracking
Cookies. This website does not set cookies and does not store information in your browser. PracticeQ pages you reach from this site, such as the consultation request or patient portal, may use cookies needed to run those services. Those cookies are governed by PracticeQ's own privacy policy.
Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because this website does not track visitors over time or across other websites, it treats every visit the same way whether or not the signal is sent.
Third-party tracking. Apart from the optional video described next, we do not allow advertising networks, analytics companies, or social media platforms to collect information about your activity on this website over time or across other websites. The About page includes a video hosted by YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube unless you choose to play it. If you do, the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode; YouTube receives information such as your IP address, may store information in your browser, and YouTube's privacy policy applies.
Email, security, and how long we keep information
Please keep first contact brief. Ordinary email and text messages are not fully secure. When you first reach out, share only your name, how to reach you, and a general sense of what you are looking for. We will discuss clinical details during the consultation call and, once you are a patient, through the practice's secure messaging app. Email and text are not monitored around the clock and must never be used in an emergency. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.
Text messages. If you agree to receive text messages, we use your mobile number only to send the messages you agreed to. We do not share, sell, or rent your mobile number or texting consent to third parties for their marketing purposes; this information is shared only with the service providers that send our messages (Spruce Health and PracticeQ), or as required by law. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.
Security. This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we receive. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Retention. We keep consultation requests and communications only as long as needed to respond, schedule, and maintain business records. Inquiries that do not lead to care are deleted once they are no longer needed. If you become a patient, your records are kept as required by California law and as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices. Server records are kept by our host under its own retention schedule.
Your choices, children, changes, and contact
Reviewing or correcting your information. You may ask to see, correct, or delete the contact information you have given us through the website, or ask us to stop contacting you. Use the contact details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to any records we are required by law to keep. Patients' rights over their health records are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Children. This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information through this website, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy. If we change this policy, we will post the revised version on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will also note it on the home page for at least 30 days.
Accessibility. If you need this policy in another format, such as large print or read aloud by phone, contact us and we will provide it.
